Last week, Mandurah Cruises had the pleasure of hosting Minister Don Punch of the Department of Primary Industries & Regional Development and his advisory team for a sample cruise. It was a great opportunity to showcase the company’s deluxe lobster fishing tour products made possible by a 2019 trial policy amendment. This amendment has granted the company and others in their sector enhanced Western Rock Lobster fishing rights, boosting productivity, and improving the overall guest experience.

It was a pleasure to see first hand the success of our Government’s trial rock lobster fishing charter management arrangements and the positive impact it’s had on charter businesses like Sea West WA

Minister Don Punch

The trial saw an increase to boat limits and the number of pots fished per vessel and created the foundation for Sea West’s interactive Western Rock Lobster catch and cook tours in Mandurah and Rottnest.

we are grateful for the chance to demonstrate the positive impact of this policy and how its implementation has contributed to real-world growth

Peter Robinson, owner of Sea West (Mandurah Cruises and Rottnest Cruises)

The tour recently won the Best Seafood Experience category at the WA Seafood Industry Awards, a reflection of owners Pete and Myri’s passion for showcasing local sustainable local seafood.
