The turquoise waters of Rottnest Island, Western Australia, is the setting for a delicious new dining concept, offering indulgence for pleasure seekers and seafood lovers.
From October 2021, Rottnest Cruises presents the ‘Luxe Island Seafood Cruise’ – a floating degustation experience, hosted over 4 hours onboard a premium 69-ft charter boat.
Authentically West Australian, the cruise combines the Island’s famous views and charm, with its sustainable seafood supply, in one deluxe experience – the only one of its kind in Australia.
Guests are treated to a journey of the senses, served all-inclusive in the ticket price:
- Dine on a 7-course seafood lunch, prepared by a private chef on deck.
- Sip on a cocktail and premium WA wines, craft beers and soft drinks, all fully inclusive.
- Watch on or catch live Western Rock Lobster then dine on the delicacy, freshly cooked.
- Take in prime Rottnest Island views from one of 3 comfortable decks.
- Option to swim, snorkel or unwind on a float mat while anchored in a pristine bay (Parakeet or Longreach Bay).
- Enjoy full crew service, with seated white tablecloth dining for main courses and dessert.
- Full-day packages also available with return Rottnest ferry transfers inclusive, providing extended time on the Island.
The cruise is a small group experience, with a maximum of 25 guests on Rottnest Cruises’ spacious, custom-built boat built for 46 passengers.
The launch of Rottnest Cruises’ new Luxe concept follows parent company Sea West’s successful season in Broome (as Broome Cruises – read guest reviews here) and popular past cruises at Rottnest.
Flavours of WA
Sea West Managing Director, Myrianthe Riddy said Covid had shifted the way people were choosing to holiday and dine out.
“More than ever, people are wanting to experience a sense of place. They want to connect what they eat with where it’s from. We have designed the Luxe cruise as a sea-to-plate experience, to give guests an authentic connection with our WA marine environment.”
The 7-course gourmet menu showcases flavours of Rottnest and WA, with star local ingredients and fresh seafoods on show. The centrepiece is Rottnest Island Western Rock Lobster, freshly caught by guests themselves on the day. Also featured is Mandurah Blue Swimmer Crab, Rottnest Island Scallops, Shark Bay Prawns and Cone Bay Barramundi.
The menu is paired with complimentary beverages served throughout the cruise. An Islander Gin Cocktail on arrival is followed by a range of premium still and sparkling Margaret River regional wines from Howard Park, quality bottled beers by WA craft brewers – Spinifex and Little Creatures, plus Corona and 150 Lashes. View the menu and beverage selection here.
“We want the experience to feel completely relaxed, just like a private dinner party with friends, except hosted in an enviable, dream-like location,” Myri said.
“The chance to cruise on a boat off Rottnest Island, drink in hand, while dining on multiple courses of fresh seafood, and jumping in for a swim if you like, is so indulgent. It feels magical.”
The Luxe Island Seafood Cruise departs Rottnest Island’s central Thomson Bay (Fuel Jetty) at 11.30am daily during WA’s peak Summer holiday season and 4 days per week during off-peak periods. The season concludes in late March 2022. For availability, click here.
